Why is it happening to me?

When something terrible happens we often ask why? This is the hardest question to answer. Some people blame themselves for situations, or other people, and if there is no obvious reason we sometimes blame God. So much hurt can be inflicted by people, yet other tragic events seem to just happen.

We cannot know all the answers as to why something is happening. But as Christians we have found that the best thing to do is to reach out to God for comfort and help because we have found that in all situations God does not wish to be removed or distant.

Jesus went through great suffering and can identify with us. God can give us an inner peace even during turmoil.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 says, "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God."

As she prayed, God gave a lady we know a poem. At the time she was having a particularly painful time living with an alcoholic husband. The poem is titled "Can I" and we hope this is of help to you

Can I be kind - with no gratitude?
Can I be polite - with nothing but abuse?
Can I be gentle - with all the harshness?
Can I be hopeful - when all seems gone?
Can I give - without taking?
Can I love - without being loved?
Can I be peaceful - with nothing but chaos?
Can I forgive - when the hurt goes on?

Paul wrote to the Philippians "I am able to do all things through Him (God) who gave me strength"

God can give you the strength to cope when things seem impossible!

Is life tough?

Does anyone care?

How can God possibly help?
